Every vote will count in this riding
Every vote must count.
That can be the only explanation why all three major political candidates were in the Rainy River area last week on the same day.
Of the 1,000 people in the community probably about 500 are eligible to vote. Of those it is likely that at best 300 will cast their ballot.
The same is true of most small communities in the district. However, a scenario that is unfolding at the national level could very well be doing the same in our neck of the woods.
With the Liberals and Tories running neck and neck and the NDP holding around 17% in the polls, it is becoming very clear that every part of the country matters.
Just the same every part of the new Thunder Bay-Rainy River riding could prove to be important.
The three major party candidates could all be virtually tied in and around Thunder Bay. All are well spoken, well known and well versed on the issues they feel are important to this area’s residents. Splitting the vote three ways in Thunder Bay will mean that smaller towns like Rainy River, Emo and Atikokan could be the votes that puts one candidate over the top.
I have heard many people say this election is all about Thunder Bay. All the major candidates are from there. However, the attention Rainy River and the other smaller communities across riding have been garnering by the Libs., Tories and NDP, says to me, every vote will count this election.
