Do you get annoyed by ring tones?

Do you get excited when your cell phone lets out a bleep to let you know that you have received a message of some sort?
When anything is new it is exciting. But eventually the novelty wears off.
When I first started using my smart phone I set customized ring tones for so many different things. It was exciting, but quickly it became apparent hearing the same sound or song over and over all day long was a bit tiresome.
For some people it is constant text messages that set off the ring tone. For me it was a combination of e-mails, text messages and facebook updates. I quickly became annoyed with several ring tones and I am sure so did the people around me.
I decided to search the library of other tones in the phone for something more discreet. I went with short quiet non-annoying tones. Through out the day I get a few e-mails and texts. I probably get the most updates from facebook... maybe ten on a busy day.
When I travel outside the Rainy River area, I have my data services disabled because of the high roaming charges I would pay.
Often when I return there are a few bleeps going off as all the missed mail and updates come through.
However, Monday when I returned from a camping trip I was amazed at how annoying the simple quiet tone I had chosen could be. It went off 75 times (at best count)!!! But when I discovered that more than 50 of them were birthday greetings I forgot the annoying sound and smiled.
Even though it was bothersome it was nice to know so many people thought of me over the weekend. Maybe next year I will change the ring tone for my birthday weekend to Happy Birthday!
