Murphy, your law sucks!

Murphy's law seemed to be in control over the weekend!
About a month ago my brother Pete and his wife Janine were down visiting with me and my fiancee in Bemidji, MN. At the time Kim's home computer was not working. So my brother, who is a computer whiz (he gets paid to do computer stuff that baffles my mind!) took a look at it.
He ended up taking the hard drive back to Winnipeg and said he would fix it and bring it back this past weekend. When he attempted to get the computer going it would not read the repaired drive nor another one he brought just in case.
He tried everything he knew to fix it and to no avail.
So the next day we went to a local department store and shopped for a computer with some of her birthday money. She ended up buying one without a monitor, because that had appeared to be in good working order.
Back at Kim's, Pete took the new computer out of the box and hooked it up to the monitor. Within a few minutes the monitor went "poof!"
"I think the monitor just went," said Pete! He could not believe it and neither could we!
It seemed that if it could go wrong with that four year old computer, it did!
So this week I am going to give her an old monitor that I am not using any more and hope that it works for her!
If not I will be calling that Murphy guy and telling him that his law sucks and he should cough up the money for a new one!
