Salvaged some of the weekend

The weatherman was just about 100% right over the May long weekend!
All last week I watched the weather forecast for the weekend with disdain. They were calling for nice weather until Friday and then rain, rain and more rain for the place we were going to camp at.
All week I hoped that the weatherman was wrong and that sun would prevail.
Well it was nice Thursday through to almost exactly the time the radio was saying on Friday. Around 2 p.m. it began to rain. It rained most of the afternoon only giving us enough of a break to sit around the campfire that night for an hour or so.
Then it rained all night and looked like the weekend was going to be a wash.
Saturday morning it was raining pretty steady, but we had set up what we call the Corona Cabana. It is a portable garage. It kept the rain off us, but by afternoon the dampness was entrenched in our bones.
But around 2 p.m. it stopped raining. We lit a fire and warmed up and dried out. Then it was like God was opening up the clouds just for us. It cleared. We went fishing, walked on the beach and later that evening enjoyed a spectacular sunset!
We had no rain until well after we had a bonfire and made campfire pies!
It rained through the night and then quit in the morning allowing us to take down camp without getting wet. We were glad the weatherman had a few little mistakes and allowed us to salvage a great weekend!
–Until then, Ken
