Back at work to rest
Just coming off a two week vacation, one would expect me to be extremely rested.
But to the contrary I am exhausted. I knew when I booked it that it was going to be a tiring experience. After all the goal was to build a garage at my fiancee's house.
We have talked about it for a few years and when her dad retired last fall she asked if he would be willing to come and help.
He (Marty Brown), said he would come and do just that!
Marty, well known as a pitcher for Williams fastball teams 20+ years ago, now resides in Denver, Colorado.
When he moved there he began a new career in the construction trades and when he retired he was supervising the construction of major projects like schools and hospitals. So building a garage for his daughter was a good fit.
Speaking of fit, at almost 70, he is still very physically fit. In fact, by day 5 of the project, concrete day to be more specific, he was truly amazing me and an even younger helper. That helper said, "I can't believe we had our butts kicked by a 70 year old!"
He is a workhorse and he stretched my 43 year old body to the max; working 10-12 hour days for two weeks straight! We completed the exterior of the garage in exceptional time! With his drive and some help from some friends, I can now take a much needed rest back at work!
–Until then, Ken
