Just let me sleep please!

Well it is official! I am getting old.
Over the weekend we went camping and celebrated my 44th birthday.
We made it to camp, set everything up and had supper before we lit a bonfire.
We sat around enjoying each other's company, making smores and waiting for the stars to come out.
Around 10:30 p.m., stuffed with smores and other goodies, we all decided it was time to go to bed with the idea being we worked hard all week, set up camp and were just plain tired.
Well not long after we hit the hay, someone's baby started screaming about four sites from us at 10:45 p.m. It lasted for about 10 minutes.
Then we could hear a party going on somewhere in the same vicinity as the baby's crying. Voices were loud and carried readily into all the sites around them, including ours.
We were just getting used to that noise and starting to fall asleep when a car alarm from over there went off. Now when this happens, most people get it shut off fairly quickly. But not this time. We could clearly here the nitwits trying to get it shut off as they were yelling over the beeping horn. It lasted another 10 minutes.
Now wide awake, we had to listen them yelling and laughing until nearly 2 a.m.
We filed a complaint with the camp host the next day. I can not operate without sleep. They said they would do a walk through that night and it seemed to work. The noise ended around 11:30 p.m.
Now don't get me wrong. I used to enjoy staying up to all hours of the night around the fire and probably made too much noise in my younger days. But now all I want is to get a decent night's sleep and enjoy the day. I must be getting old... someday they will be old and understand where we were coming from.

–Until then,
Ken
