No sense complaining
Well if it isn't one extreme it is another!
Earlier this spring everyone was complaining about how cool and wet the spring was. People wondered if we would get any summer weather.
Well then July came along and boy did it make up for the spring. Over Railroad Daze we experienced a heatwave (more than three days of 30° C weather in a row) that was coupled with very high humidity.
People gasped that with the humidex temperatures were over 40° C (100+°F)!
It was hot and sticky!
Over the weekend temperatures rose again and the humdity returned for a day or so. But all of last week the temperatures were below room temperature at night... perfect for sleeping and easy on the electric bill that airconditioning can ring up!
In the summer some people complain about the heat when it gets here but then complain in the dead of winter about the deep freeze we can often be in.
I too can get caught up in the complaining about the weather at times. But I do try and take a step back and remember what the opposite weather of that time is.
Yes it is hot and muggy at times in the summer. But at least it is not -40°C!
In the winter when it is cold, I think of how uncomfortable hot and humid weather can be, and about all the bugs that go with it.
By off setting the unpleasantness at these to bi-polar times of year, I can learn to accept that we are lucky to live where we are and to have a variety of weather extremes.
So next time you start thinking it is too hot, think of how cold it is in dead of January. Then do the same but in reverse in the winter. Griping does nothing but make everyone feel miserable.
–Until then,
Ken
