The "Wow Factor" is still there!

Traveling to Winnipeg is not new to most people living in the Rainy River area.
However, over the weekend I took my fiancee and her two kids to the city to roast my brother Pete who turns 40 today!
Well we made a weekend of it since it was such a long journey for them from Bemidji.
On Saturday we took the kids to the zoo. They had never ever been to a zoo, even though they are 14 and 11!
They were very excited and even though we had to do the tour with umbrellas most of the way, they both experienced the same "Wow!" factor that I am sure every kid has going there!
Later that afternoon we went to the Planetarium. As they awaited the show to begin they were getting restless... they were worn out from the zoo and we were stretching things by adding another experience.
However, when the lights dimmed and the dome shaped screen became a night sky my future step kids were in awe! I heard Veronica say, "Oh cool! Oh wow!"
For me, having not been there since I was a kid, I had dejavous with the "Wow factor" all over again!
While the show, Manitoba Night Skies, was not really action packed, the kids did enjoy it and learned from the 'Wow factor!"
The next night, sitting around the bonfire, Veronica picked out The Big Dipper, and counted the stars on the handle and pointed out where the dipper was pointing too... "Polaris!" she said.
It was truly inspiring to see that kids of this electronics age could be fascinated and stimulated by age old experiences that obviously still have their "Wow factor" intact!
–Until then,
Ken
