Proud to be from Rainy River
ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!
There are no other words to describe this past weekend! Rainy River you did yourself proud!
I have been covering events for nearly 16 years and before that attended the fledgling Railroad Daze and countless other community events. Never has the town partied like it did this past weekend!!!
The visiting that I did both on the job and off the job was the highlight for me. I ran into former RR doctors Cecil and Anne Rytwinski. I also had the privilege of meeting Leonard Proteau, whom I did a story on last year. He made it into the Guiness Book of World Records for most consecutive bullseyes in sharpshooting. I ran into old classmates, although not as many as I would have liked. I saw old friends and former business people/residents.
Everywhere I went it took longer than usual as there was someone to stop and talk to and catch up on things.
My car stayed parked in my garage all weekend as there was way too much traffic in town and no way I was going to get a parking spot in front of my own house.
On Saturday at the height of the event I felt like I was in a big city amusement park with all the people coming and going from the tent.
It was truly great to see how busy it was and it even brought a tear to my eye a couple of times when I saw something that made me feel proud to be from Rainy River.
–Until then, Ken
