An exciting but yet sad time
This is a exciting and sad time in my life, and perhaps many of my family member's lives.
Over the weekend we celebrated my parents 30th Anniversary, my mom's birthday and Christmas with them. All happy events, two of which were a month early.
They were a month early because another happy event is coming next week. My mom is joining my dad in retirement! And with that chapter ending a new one will begin.
They are planning their first adventure as Snowbirds! They are going to spend a few months in the southern United States with the first big destination being my dad's life long dream: Memphis, Tennessee!
He once had a chance to see Elvis Presley in concert but did not go. Then the King died.
So Graceland will hopefully help fill that void.
Now these are all happy times and we as children all are excited for them. But at the same time, our family which has always been very close, especially at holidays, will not be together in one shape or form for the first time ever!
I have never spent a Christmas without my folks and usually many other family members. It will be a bit sad, but at the same time it will be a happy time for them!
Everything changes with time and this is one of those times that is a changing.
–Until then, Ken
