Eight more pounds to contend with

Well yesterday morning was judgement day for me.
After about three or four weeks of eating badly I knew that my jeans were tighter and a the verdict was not going to be in my favour.
I stepped onto the judgement scale and discovered that yes indeed I had retained several pounds of the Christmas goodies and other junk I consumed over the holidays.
Last year I went on a diet and lost 32 lbs. having gained about 15 of them over the holidays that year.
Over the course of the year I managed to keep the weight off, resisting eating badly as much as I could and staying active.
So when I squeezed into my new jeans I received for Christmas and held my breath for the day so that I could stay in them, I knew that a return to the diet was in the offing.
I closed my eyes and listened to the scale spin. Fearing the worst I slowly opened one eye to see the verdict.
Incredibly it said I had only gained 8 lbs! While I was not thrilled that bad behavior had shown up on my waistline, I was ecstatic that it was only 8 lbs. and not 15!
So as I start the new year I resolve to eat better again and to exercise to lose those 8 bonus pounds and beyond!
I am sure I will not be alone as the t.v. has been flooded with advertisements for exercise equipment and diets that want you to pay to lose those holiday pounds.
I makes one wonder if the candy companies own the exercise equipment and diet programs knowing that we are going to stop eating junk and start exercising.

–Until then,
