Is bigger better for you the reader?

Is bigger better?
About a month ago our sister paper, the Fort Frances Times, increased their typeface size for regular news copy.
I decided that I would follow suit, increasing most of it the next week. I left a few articles in the smaller type so we could compare them and see whether the new larger type was easier to read.
With an aging population, it seemed only logical that a larger type size would be easier to read. I thought for sure that someone would mention it to me... "Boy the paper is much easier to read!"
But no one said anything.
So last week I mentioned it to a few readers. Only one said they thought something was different. The rest did not notice at all.
So here I am telling the rest of you about the change in hopes that you will have a read and see if it is easier for your eyes.
If you read it on the internet you won't notice a difference. However, you can adjust the view on your computer.
It is the printed version that the difference is evident in.
It should be easier for everyone to read. The only downside to it is we have slightly less space for news copy. So while you will get an easier read you won't get quite as much copy from week to week.

–Until then,
