We talked, and talked, and talked...
How do I miss you? Let me count the ways?
My folks, Norma-Jean and Irwin Johnston made it home from their first snow-birding adventure over the weekend. They were gone for nearly three months and travelled all the way to the Texas Gulf of Mexico in the south and west to the California coast.
They spent Christmas near Graceland, the late Elvis Presley's home and travelled to Pasadena, CA, for the Rosebowl Parade at New Years.
They then spent weeks having adventures in places like Phoenix, AZ where they visited with other Rainy River Snow-birds Joan and Bill Hagarty.
All along the way they kept in touch via the vast array of technologies now available. They Skyped some of us. Emailed some. Instant messaged on Facebook and Windows Live Messenger. They called on their two kinds of cell phones (TBay Tel and a US Trac Phone). And they even sent postcards!
We were in touch lots... almost daily! So when they rolled back into town on Saturday one would think we would have hardly missed one another.
But once we hugged for a long time... and unloaded their camper and vehicle, we settled into visiting. Now anyone who knows our family knows we can talk your ear off. Well Sat. evening we talked, and talked and talked... then Sunday morning over breakfast we talked and talked and talked... oh ya, we had supper that evening as well and we talked and talked and talked! It think we missed each other more than we thought we would!
I guess there is no technology that replace in person communications! Welcome home Mom and Pop.
–Until then,
Ken
