No flu, but plenty of Spring Fever!
Have you caught the fever yet?
While the flu has been virtually nonexistent this winter, one fever has been in the air most of the season... Spring Fever!
Usually we muddle through November, December, January and February trying to keep warm and shovelling lots of snow. But this year has been an exceptional one.
It has been mild most of the winter. It has actually been a winter of opposites. Instead of many cold days and a few warm ones, it has been one of many mild days and only a few bone chillers.
Snow has been almost non-present all winter. We had some in November but it melted. The same happened a few times over the winter. Whereas a normal winter we usually get lots of snow and have only a few melting events; never enough to get rid of it all.
Now we seem to be on the cusp of an early Spring. Rain knocked down the snow on Monday and warm temperatures are forecast through the weekend. And even then when it cools down on Monday it is only going to drop to 10°C or 50°F!
I caught spring fever in December and even found myself surfing the internet looking at information on summer activities like camping. Usually I force myself to wait until the end of January to start thinking of camping... but this year it was so mild... that Spring Fever made me delirious for the throws of summer!
Now it is starting to look like we may have an early start to the summer fun!
I just hope when the fever breaks and summer sets in that we do not pay for the mild winter with a cool, damp summer!
–Until then,
Ken
