Cruel joke of a summer
Summer... what summer?
That is the question I have heard so many people ask in the past few weeks.
It seems Mother Nature forgot to deliver us some heat with the package we call summer. It has been cool to say the least with night time temperatures hovering near the low forties several times this summer.
Later this week it is supposed to only get up in to the 50s in the day time.... brrrrrrr!
Over the weekend I was doing some gardening and took a break. I sat on my steps and watched the bees working on my flowering shrubs. If the way they have been gathering nectar over the weekend is any indication as to what lies ahead... the future is
not going to be any warmer. They were flying from flower to flower and in great numbers, working feverishly. My bets are they know something that we don’t. Mother Nature’s cruel joke of a summer is yet to be outdone by an early and even colder fall.
Couple that with the recent notice in our gas bills that rates have gone through the roof again, there is going to be some tough pills to swallow in the weeks and months ahead.
The only up side to this is that colder weather generally means better fishing in the fall. Perhaps we will get to see some mammoth walleyes at the annual RRWT which is a little over a month away.
–Until then,
