A lot of competition for space each week!

Last week I played catch up in the paper.
The week before I had so much copy and so little space that it was very frustrating to let so many people down.
People often do not realize how much competition we have for space each week. And the amount of space we have each week is determined by the amount of advertising we have.
So two weeks when we had a limited amount of space I had to make the tough decisions about what would run and what would have to be put off for a week or so.
I also had to edit copy down to make each piece that ran fit into the template that was allowed by the ads we had positioned to run that week.
So last week when things looked better I managed to get columns in that did not run the week before... things like the Library Corner and the photo of the Marbled Godwit.
I try to be fair about what goes in but often big news stories like the girls winning Ofssas trump space and push my decisions to the back burner.
But fortunately we managed to get everything in last week that we had to omit the week before.
Now to see if this week's paper will work out just as good.
