An army of volunteers make it so good!
Big events take big groups of people to run and this weekend all the efforts of months of meetings, and work will pay off as the sixth annual Rainy River Walleye Tournament gets underway Friday evening with a boat parade.
For the fans it is always an exciting weekend, especially at the weigh-ins. They see the anglers march up on stage fish in hand. They watch as the weigh master announces the weight and then are entertained by Emcee Lionel Robert.
It comes off so smooth and to anyone who has never been back stage it probably looks easy.
But out on the docks there are people with clip boards, plastic bags and directions for the anglers to make their way up to the stage.
Then there are a series of tanks full of water to
keep the fish alive in the baskets. Again there are more people manning those posts.
Then there is a sign person to signal the Emcee which team is coming up.
Another group of people are behind the stage to take the fish to revitalizing tanks. Fish that are kind of groggy are worked back to health by volunteers and up on the stage are two more volunteers recording the weights and getting the anglers to sign off on the official weight.
All these people make the presentation seem so seamless and they are only one part of the army that makes everything else like that for the RRWT.
They deserve a huge amount of credit! So thank them if you get chance and enjoy the show!
