Moving Halloween will trick treators
Trick or another trick?
In a little less than three weeks the kids all across the land will be dressing up in Halloween costumes and heading out to trick or treat.
It is something that I know I looked forward to as a youngster and I am sure the kids do as well today. But this year the occasion falls on a Sunday, which in my opinion is not a really big deal.
But somewhere along the way Rainy River decided that Halloween just could not happen on a Sunday. The Town Council has for the past couple of Sunday Halloweens decided to move it to a different day.
Some of the reasons included allowing the kids to visit the businesses, which are always generous to them and others included the fact that Sunday is a religious day, and Halloween, despite how much fun it is, has evil undertones.
This year council is looking at moving it to the Friday before the 31st. This will surely confuse a number of people and will in some cases promote double dipping as some treatsters will go out both days. I think that for the one day every six or seven years we can let the evil fun take place on Sunday.
–Until then,
