Are we in for an early fall?
Could we be in for an early fall?
Two weeks ago while on vacation my fiancee was stung by a wasp. She learned that she, like me is allergic to stinging insects.
Since then we have noticed how aggressively the wasps and hornets have been seeking food. They are acting like they generally do in late August early September.
Also while on vacation we noticed how fat the raccoons were. Could they be piling on the weight for an early and long winter?
This past weekend we noticed the birds seem to be eating from the feeders voraciously as well.
It is strange how insects and animals seem to know when the seasons are going to change.
The temperatures over the weekend seemed to also have a hint of fall in them, requiring for the first time all summer, us to wear sweaters around the bonfire!
Well the weather of last winter, this spring and summer until now has been out of the ordinary... so why should fall be any different? It may be coming early and it may be payback time for the mild winter, spring and summer we have had.
Or perhaps the indicators are wrong... maybe the raccoons and insects are just feasting because they can.
–Until then,
Ken
