Great deals here and no rat race

I went to the city over the weekend to do some carpentry work for my brother.
In between working on his house and meals we snuck some shopping in. I figured I would have a looksie around and see what there was for people on my Christmas list. To be quite honest... I did not find much of anything that I could not get in Rainy River.
Many of the same products were available at local stores for the same price and in some cases cheaper here.
In addition to that, there was the pandemonium of line-ups at the check-out counters. There was no way we were going to wait in line for 30-40 minutes to buy a couple of items at one place.
We sometimes don’t realize how good we have it here in Rainy River. Rarely do we have to wait in line to pay for goods. Rarely do we have to worry
about any kind of traffic to and from the stores.
And with the prices being pretty much the same here, why bother going into the city at all?
Not long ago my brother and I built a bar in his rec. room. He needed bar stools. We drove all over Winnipeg... the city with more furniture stores than we have people. Not a single place had stools he could buy and have delivered that day.
I did him a favour and checked out Lowes Furniture here and low and behold his hometown had what he needed. Add to that that the stools were cheaper and Lowes runs a freight truck into the city regularly, he bought them here and had them delivered to Winnipeg.
This year Santa won’t have far to shop for people in this area.
–Until then,
