The Bear Show comes to my house!
Early last Wednesday, at about 3 a.m. a dog barked right outside my bedroom window, making me jump out of bed. I could tell there was an animal across the street but I did not see what it was until 3 hours later when the sun began coming up. It was a big bear.
As soon as word got out that a bear had taken refuge in my neighbourhood, people started showing up. Some came on foot, some in vehicles. Some for multiple passes.
At lunch that day I came home to find two of my neighbours sitting on my front porch watching the bear, eating popcorn and having cool drinks. It wasn't long and other members of the community started coming and going from my porch.
Once MNR placed a trap at the base of the tree the bear was in, the street was barricaded to reduce traffic which seemed to be spooking the bear.
Around 7:30 p.m. I decided to go out and sit on my porch and see what was going on. The bear was awake and came down shortly thereafter. He then inspected the trap and smelled the bait inside. He eventually went in, unable to resist the good stuff inside. At about 8 p.m. he was trapped. Word travelled quickly and in a matter of about 20 minutes there were lots of townspeople getting up close looks at the bear in the cage.

I spent the weekend replacing the roof on my garage. I could not have done it without the help of Uncle Bob Johnston and Shane Gulbrandsen! Thanks guys. It was fun and as I write this I feel some muscles I forgot I had! Several others helped a little here and there! Thanks to you all.
