You are here

The winter blahs made worse

Ken Johnston

Are you feeling the same way as me lately?
Well if you are longing for spring and for it to stop snowing. This weather is good for only one thing and that is keeping us all cooped up.
I awoke this Monday to the radio announcer telling me that some researcher determined January 24th is the most depressing day of the winter; on the Winter Blahs chart that is.
I thought great... it is bad enough that it is Monday, but now it is the most depressing day of the year... how quaint.
I know that the blahs are here, because all I can think about lately is going somewhere where there is no winter and I can go outside without five layers of clothing on.
But to have the head shrinkers tell us things are

even worse, really did not do anything for me but make me want winter to be over like RIGHT NOW!
Oh well, as in every year I will get through the blahs. I know I am not going anywhere warm this year, so leafing through my seed catalogues and looking at photos from the summer will have to do.
I wonder what other people do to get through the dark days of winter? I am sure that they try to think positive thoughts and were equally disappointed to hear how bad Monday was.
Oh well on the positive side of things, if Monday was the most depressing day of the year, things can only get better from here on.
–Until then,
Ken
