John Robert “Bob” Booth, 67

Bob passed away on Monday, January 24, 2005 at the Rainy River Hospital. He was born on May 7, 1937 in Emo, Ontario to Martin and Hazel Booth.
Bob was united in marriage on November 19, 1960 in Baudette, MN to Blanche Grace Selman after which they then began to build a life together in Rainy River, Ontario.
Bob worked as a brakeman/conductor for the CN Railway for 29 years and forged many good and lasting friendships through his job. When he wasn’t working Bob was known as a man who could build anything and could usually be found doing just that, whether in his workshop at home or helping a friend or neighbour. He loved carpentry, and in the last few years enjoyed curling.
Bob is survived by his wife Blanche, sons John (Lee Anne), Brad, and Roger, his grandchildren Shane, Brianne, Miranda and Robert and his father Martin Booth.
Also surviving are a brother Fred (Sylvia) Booth, a sister Sharon Larocque and many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother Hazel and brother-in-law Ovide Larocque.
A celebration of Bob’s life was held on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Major Hughes Br. 54 in Rainy River, Ontario with Gordon Armstrong officiating. Archie Wiersema provided the eulogy.
Friends visited with the family on Thursday, January 27, 2005 from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at the Rainy River Funeral Home.
Bob will be sadly missed by many and fondly remembered by all.
The honourary pallbearers were Dennis Roulston, Jack Booth, Stan Usiski, Archie Wiersema, Eltjo Wiersema, Carl Peters, Tom Booth and John Mykytyn.
