Trading electric decorations for Nature’s

Ken Johnston

Christmas in April?
Well I am sure that a few others than myself had their fill of taking down Christmas decorations over the weekend as the snow finally melted enough to let us get at them.
Anyone driving around town a week ago might have thought the town’s folks had turned back their clocks to December. Many people had and some still do, their Christmas lights and lit statues up still.
Well I managed to get just about all mine down on Sunday, but still a few of them have cords frozen into the ground or in the case of the garage, there is still five feet of snow in the way of getting close enough to them to take them down.
But now that the April showers have started I am sure it won’t be long and we will all back to the

right season... Spring!
Quite a few people have spring flowers already coming up... I am jealous... wish mine were...
I heard that Vera McQuaig (corner of Main and River Ave. W.) has crocuses coming up already.
Susie Armstrong has a variety of tulips, irises and other plants starting to poke through on the south side of her place.
Linda Johnston also reported that she has irises coming up.
So the colours of our Christmas decorations will not long be missed as the colours of spring will soon be in full bloom.
–Until then,
Ken
