Great to see new dog catcher out there!
Ken Johnston
I have to give council a pat on the back for hiring an animal control officer... and the new officer, one for getting out there and doing her job.
Sabine Drackert stopped me on the street late last week and said, “I have to ask you something.”
She asked me if I had licenses for my dogs.
I replied, “Oh you are the new dog catcher and no I do not.”
I used to buy licenses for my dogs every year and always keep them on leashes. I also pick up their poop and dispose of it.
I had no problem paying for a license as long as the town was dealing with the dog problem.
But when I was paying a fee that had no service I felt I was being penalized for obeying the law and those who were breaking it were being rewarded.
Hopefully now there will be less problems with strays and less dog poop out there.
So if you see a stray dog running loose or someone not picking up after their dog give Sabine a call. She is obviously not afraid to patrol the streets and do the job.
Her number is 852-3199 or you can call the town at 852-3244.
–Until then,
Ken
