The mouse that thought he was a dog

If you pay attention to detail like I do, you would know how frustrating something can be when it mysteriously is out of place.
Last week my dog’s food bowl suddenly changed in appearance.
Normally he eats all his food at once and usually likes to have some of the food put on the floor which he will eat first (Don’t ask me why). However, the food I placed on the floor was untouched and for some reason only about a quarter of his bowl was eaten.
At first I just chalked it up to him being strange or undergoing some change in life... after all I have seen his personality blossom since the death of his brother in August.
So I filled the bowl again and the same thing happened the next day.
I began to suspect my dog was sharing his food with a critter of some sort. I checked the pantry to see

if a mouse had gotten into the goods in there... the answer was no. Strange... but again I thought maybe the out of place food was just him changing his eating patterns.
Finally Sunday night I decided to put everything to the test. I filled his bowl at night and took him to bed with me... but I also left something else out that night... a mouse trap baited with dog food and peanut butter.
I figured if there was some sort of creature, like a mouse or a squirrel in the house the trap would be too tempting and would at least be sprung.
I was hoping for an answer and Monday morning my big game hunt yielded one.
I had caught the mouse that thought he was a dog. At least he died fat and full of good quality dog food.
