What’s in a name?
Must be a lot of people hoping that they were good enough to have a visit from Santa in less than two weeks.
Just for fun the other night I changed my user I.D. on MSN Messenger and put a new display photo.
It was amazing how many people immediately greeted me when I logged on. Not that my friends and family aren’t friendly but this user name and photo really attracted their attention, both young and old and male and female.
Some were just greetings others had special requests. I never knew a little change like that could attract so much attention.
So what user name did I put up? And what picture?
Well it was Prime Minister Paul Martin or Conservative Stephen Harper (probably would have been put on everyone’s block list if it was them).
It was dear old Santa...
Right away everyone on my friends and family list started conversing with me. It was like a traffic jams of “Hi Santa” and “How are you Santa?”
The big guy’s magic must have been in my fingers because I managed to get to all the hello’s and reply to the requests.
All of them claimed they have been good this past year and asked for things like “A new car,” “A new video game,” and even a “Green Pony” which later turned to a “Green Turtle.”
It was great fun and made me laugh in an unfamiliar way... “Ho Ho Ho...” if I remember correctly!
Now when I log on with regular old “Ken” as a user name and the regular photo of my dad and I, I do not get the same response, but I do find I check my list of contacts (twice) to see who has been naughty or nice!
–Until then,
Ken
