Hungry to diet again
Well if you are like 75% of society you are likely feeling like me right about now... like a stuffed turkey!
Last March I decided that enough was enough. I had gained quite a bit of weight over the 2004 holiday season but had not lost it. In years gone by I would always drop some of it almost as fast as I gained it. But that did not happen last year.
So I jumped on the diet bandwagon. My brother and sister in law had lost oodles of pounds on the Atkins Diet. So I started looking into it and discovered I would only have to make a few modifications to the way I ate to implement it in my life
It was hard at first... giving up coffee for a while and especially sweets and bread. But I persevered and lost 30lbs.
Well I swore I would fight the battle of the bulge tooth and nail this year. I did not buy hardly any Christmas candy (unusual for me.... used to buy tons) and very few treats like potato chips.
Well I was doing well on the home front but on the visiting front the enemy stepped things up... way up!
Every where I went there were the very things I swore I would not buy sitting out for me to eat! I guess unless everyone else doesn’t buy them the battle is in vain.
So I gave into temptation and lost... well actually gained.
I put on 11 lbs. in about ten days... one third of the weight that took me months to get rid of was back... It was depressing... but now I am in the New Year’s resolution mode.... I resolve to get my diet back on track and cut those bad carbs out completely and get back to eating good ones.
I did it before and I know I can do it again! It also helps that I have decarbed the house... given away or eaten all the bad stuff.
It takes tremendous will power to win the battle of the bulge so to all my fellow battlers good luck!
–Until then,
Ken
