Testing my memory

Saturday I had the pleasure of helping with the Third Annual Alzheimer’s Fund raising Dinner.
We all take our memory’s for granted and little did I suspect but mine was going to get tested that evening.
After cutting up the beef I was asked to help serve the meal. I have done this on many occasions at the Moose in Baudette over the years but never had actually been on the serving line in Rainy River.
In Baudette I know quite a few people but I did not realize until Saturday how many folks I know here.
I served about two thirds of the people their roast beef and said “Hello” to everyone of them by name.
I did get a couple of people mixed up (sorry).

But I did not realize how tightly knit our small town was until I started thinking I know just about everyone in the community.
In fact I started thinking about where everyone lives and was amazed how much stuff I have stored in my memory.
Unfortunately those who suffer from Alzheimer Disease do not get to recall things like a healthy person. So it was good to see so many people come out and support the cause and at the same time visit, share good memories with each other and even make more memorable moments that evening.
–Until then,
Ken
