Good clean fun had by all!
Take some ice, some brooms, rocks, perhaps a little alcohol, add some wild women and what do you get? The annual Rainy River Ladies bonspiel... that is what!
On Saturday night I walked over to the curling rink to cover the finals at the annual spiel. As I approached the building I noticed the front fire escape door was open and there was a great deal of noise coming from the club room.
Loud music and plenty of ladies hooting and hollering was coming out the door.
I was not sure what was going on up there. Could they have a male stripper up there?
I entered the building and walked up the stairs cautiously, wondering what mayhem I would see.
I peeked over the upper railing hoping I would not see some guy flaunting his goods to a pack of wild women.
To my relief it was four ladies dressed as rock stars from the 1980s performing “We’re Not Gonna Take It Anymore.” You see one of the long standing traditions at the Ladies Bonspiel is a costume theme contest.
This year it was 1980s Rock Stars and the ladies did a fantastic job, in fact so good that the crowd was super energized as if they were at an actual 80s concert.
Everyone had fun and I was relieved that it was good clean fun.
–Until then,
