The olympic spirit of confusion
Catch the olympic spirit... the spirit of confusion.
That is what I have been finding myself doing for the past week or so as I try to decipher what is on and when.
The other night I flipped through the menu on the satellite and discovered that some olympic programming was just about over on some CBCs and no where near being done on others. So I checked them out to discover there were different events on different CBC channels.
Of course I realize that there are CBCs for the east coast that are ahead of us and those on the west coast that are behind us time-wise.
Then throw TSN into the mix, not to mention the coverage on NBC-east and NBC-west and I have not been able to figure out where Canada is at.
Some events are broadcast live and others are time delayed. However, they do not say time
delayed or live on the screen so you do not know what you are seeing... old or new news.
On Sunday I watched CBC Winnipeg and Ron Maclean said Cindy Klassen’s 1000m speed skating would be up momentarily. I watched it and she was leading. Well a commercial came and I flipped to TSN and on the ticker it said Klassen had won the silver... talk about deflating my curiosity.
It is too bad there could not have been an embargo on results for a day just so that it might be a bit more fun to watch an event without having the ending spoiled.
Oh well I have just about given up trying to figure it all out (maybe that should be an olympic event) and have resigned myself to watching the news to see how we did that day.
–Until then,
