I’ll take the blame
It must be my fault... yes you can blame me for the cold blast of Old Man Winter on Monday.
I decided Sunday morning to work the soil in my vegetable garden to see if it was dry enough to plant. Well it was so I proceeded to put the treated timbers around the outside that I use to keep the soil from washing away in the rain and then got my seeds out to plant.
Was reading the packages to see if I should be doing this so early in the season. Some seeds, beans and carrots in particular, said wait well until the danger of the last frost is passed.
Well I planted my beans anyways, as well as radishes, lettuce and onions. Was tempted with the nice warm weather we have had to plant my carrots and tomatoes... I figured with the tomatoes that if a few died on me I would just replace them with others I have started... I have about 40 plants started and need three or four.
So many members of my family are going to get some tomato plants for their gardens.
Well at the last minute I checked the weather forecast and heard it might snow today.
I was in utter disbelief... I had just spent several hours in the garden and all could be lost.
Well fortunately I did not have the tomatoes in the ground and did not waste any of them.
And the weatherman was right... it was cold enough to snow.
Most folks I asked Monday about the rest of my seeds said I should be okay as it did not freeze too hard. Radishes like the cold and I am told onions do too.
Well anyways you know who to blame the cold weather on.
–Until then,
Ken
