Time moves quicker with age

My how fast kids grow up.
Last Wednesday 24 students graduated from Rainy River High School and one of them was my little brother Marty.
It seems like just yesterday when my parents called me at university and told me the news that they were going to have another baby.... 21 years after I was born.
Last Wednesday my other brother Pete came down from Winnipeg for the occasion and he and I, who are only four years apart both had our minds on the same track.
As we walked to the school from our parents’ house we reflected on how many years it has been since we graduated. It was 20 from grade 13 for me and 21 from 12. Pete was 16 and 17 years respectively.
“Here we are walking the same path to grad again,” said Pete.
While for Pete it was more nostalgic as he has not been to a grad at RRHS for a number of years I get to go every year!
Well now Marty has reached a milestone in his life and will soon begin his adult life at the University of Manitoba.
Before we know it he will be having kids and they will grow up fast... I now believe what my elders said before, “Time moves quicker with age.”
In a few months Marty and all his buddies that hung out at the house we all grew up in will be gone and things will be quiet there... I wonder what the parents will do to fill that void... they will have to have me over more!!! Nudge, nudge, wink wink!
–Until then,
Ken
