How much is that doggy in the window?

How much is that doggy in the window?
I have been getting asked that over the past week or so.
About two weeks ago I adopted another Shih Tzu. His name is Ricky Ricardo and he definitely is a character.
Rescued off the streets of Minneapolis, this city slicker had it rough for a while. He made his way north to me and my other dog Navy Boy.
Having had Shih Tzus for more than a decade I did not expect this little guy to be much different from Navy, but I was wrong.
Ricky is much younger than Navy who is going to be nine next month. He is still able to jump up on laps, furniture, etc. Unlike the older Navy who hurt his back a few years ago trying to do that and now knows that only Dad will lift him on and off the furniture and up the stairs.
Well the first day I left him home alone with Navy he decided to show me just how agile he truly is.
At first I was not sure it was his antics when I found my jigsaw puzzle on the card table in the front window scrambled to bits.
But the next day I caught the little bugger sitting on the card table looking out the window.
I yelled at him and he got down.
But apparently windows are his thing... he was right back up there the next day, and every day since. I gave up... put the puzzle away for the season and now watch for him in the front window.
He also showed me he can climb the stairs very readily too. He tipped the garbage can over in my room and proceeded to remind me of the days when Navy was young. He shredded kleenex all over my bedroom floor... with Navy it was newspaper.
Well now two weeks on he has settled into a routine (I hope) and has stopped shredding paper. But others have seen him in the window and asked how much that doggy is.
–Until then,
Ken
