I smell a ripoff here

Wasn’t the pet food scare a real eye opener last week?
I was shocked to discover that the pet food industry is self regulated. In other words they are not held to the same safety standards our food supply is by the government.
Then to top that off I was surprised that almost 100 brands of food were made by the same company.
Many pet owners have been brand loyal to one type of pet food or another for years. Now to find out that most of them are made at the same place has me saying “Wow... how much wool has been pulled over people’s eyes on this one?”
Let’s say Brand A is known as a premium blended food. Brand B a little lesser quality and Brand C lesser yet... well at least we are led to believe this is the case.
Then we find out they all contained rat poison and our animals were getting sick no matter which brand we had bought.
At the same time Brand A, because it is supposedly premium costs quite a bit more than Brands B and C... I smell a ripoff here.
I also heard on the radio this past week of a farm product that sold under two levels of quality; regular and plus... turns out it was the same product in both containers... but the plus cost more...
How many other deceptions are on store shelves?
It is sad that companies can get away with that and even sadder that it took tragedy to shed light on it.
