Memory triggers

What an amazing Spring weekend!
It was warm and sunny both Friday and Saturday and again late Sunday. It was weather to make everyone feel good and get spring plants a growing!
Monday they called for rain and as the day progressed I found myself sensing the rain was approaching.
It was like learning to ride a bike... you never forget how once you have it mastered.
On my way back from lunch I found I could almost smell the rain coming. Sensations tantalized by my sense of smell that I had not smelled since last fall.
Our memories are a funny thing. Sometimes we forget the simplest of things like where we put our keys or eye glasses.
Then other times we remember complicated things like mathematical processes.
It was like a trigger had gone off and I was sure it was going to rain. I remembered the smell of rain coming.
Then after a spring rain is over there is that sensation of cleanness in the air. The air smells so good after a spring rain as dust and dirt from winter thaws are washed away and new plants and grass spring to life.
I wonder what the next memory to be triggered by my senses will be? Perhaps the smell of charcoal barbecuing or a campfire. Whatever it is I look forward to more great memory triggers this Spring and Summer.
–Until then,
Ken
