Summer is way too short

It is hard to believe there is less than two months until the kids have to go back to school!
Heck they just got out of school two weeks ago and in about eight they will be back at it.
Summer goes by way to quickly for them and for all of us it seems.
I remember in the dead of winter saying I wanted to go camping a lot more this summer, but now the weeks are numbered at about eight and the free weekends are even fewer in between.
We have been out twice this year... one less time than last year. I am cautiously optimistic that we will get out at least one more time... but probably not more than that.
I guess I should face reality that there are very few opportunities to get more than a few camping trips in a season. It is so short that people plan weddings, festivals and various other activities on those precious weekends.
Next winter I will have to pick and choose my three or so weekends carefully knowing that will likely all I get to enjoy around the campfire and under the stars.
Thinking about it from a statistical perspective I get to go 3 out of about 12 good weekends so that is 25% of the summer. Not too bad but still not enough.
