Go brush your teeth...

I find myself asking the simple question... why do kids resist doing things that make sense?
Go brush your teeth.
Go take a shower/bath.
Put on clean clothes.
Eat something good for you.
Go to bed at a decent time.
Clean up after yourself.
Go outside and play.
Many kids respond to these ideas with a resounding "No!"
I myself resisted doing what I was told and eventually relented. Now I am thankful that I brushed my teeth regularly, can not stand to be "stinky" and rarely wear the same piece of clothing more than once before it is laundered.
Cleaning up after myself... well when you live alone... who else is going to do it.
Sleeping... that is something that I need to do properly or I won't function well the next day.
Getting fresh air and exercise... I love doing that now.
But kids... they resist... and often begrudge the parental influence on their care and activities.
I wonder if it is the same point in life that we all become aware of the fact that we need to do these things or if we just eventually get acclimatized to doing what we are told and they become habit forming.
–Until then,
