Not a fish out of water!
Well I definitely know that I am not a fish out of water.
As a kid I used to swim every day in the summer off the "big dock" and on any beach our parents would take us too.
As a group of teens we spent many a summer weekends at the "sand hills" swimming and playing.
Well as an adult I seemed to have drifted away from an activity that I spent so much time doing before... swimming!
Over the weekend I managed to squeak another camping trip in and this time the weather was perfect... hot and sunny!
On the beach... the heat was even more intense than back at our campsite... so it did not take any convincing to get me in the water. The beautiful sandy beaches of Cass Lake were accompanied by a large sand bottom swimming area... one that you can go way out before it gets deep.
The water was warm and we swam both Friday and Saturday. It was fun but very tiring... I was exhausted after two times in the water on Saturday. The younger member of our camping party wanted to go back in... of course he had plenty of energy... I just could not muster it... knowing that I am definitely not a fish out of water... by Sunday muscles and joints that I forgot I had ached... I think a casual dip may be in the forecast for the future... but none of the hours and hours of swimming I used to do.
–Until then,
Ken
