What a waste of time and energy

Well it is almost over!
Yes another election campaign is nearing an end and all of the parties claim they have the magic answers about the economy or other subjects like the environment.
For the past month or so I have had the displeasure of having to sift through piles and piles of crap.
They come in the form of e-mails... this morning alone I had 143 of them. Absolutely none of them are worthy of printing. They tow a particular line and are often not very fair.
Communication majors know from their training that newspapers are supposed to be objective and present all sides of a story. Press releases that lambaste an opponent are far from that.
Now that the last paper before the election is being published the waste of my time going through what is sure to be an even more intense barrage of them is going to seem even more gut wrenching.
About the only thing I can think of them being good for is wasting my time and every other editor's time. They also waste electricity as they are sent via the electronic medium known as the internet.
That could be a campaign issue for the Greens... they are the only ones that did not pollute my e-mail this election or waste energy doing so.
–Until then,
Ken
