It should not be this hard to vote

Well it is no wonder Canadians are apathetic about voting.
After the umpteenth election in the past five years, they are sick of hearing all the promises from the politicians and then having them get elected and fail to deliver on them.
Of course add that to the fact that on election day there was confusion at the polls and one could feel the apathy.
I stood in line behind two people who were told they needed photo identification to vote. One presented a driver's license which is what the Elections Canada worker said was the preferred I.D. However, the other person did not have a driver's license and wanted to use a passport.
However, the worker said, "No but do you have a health card?"
They were looking for I.D. that has your street address on it. Well that becomes a problem as the new Ontario Health Cards do not have a street address on them and neither does one's passport.
The worker suggested the person go to the LCBO and apply for an age of majority card. Their response was, "This is harder than crossing the U.S. border."
It should not be this hard to vote and it definitely does not make a person want to go through the process if all it is going to be is a hassle.
–Until then,
