Plans turned upside down, thanks to all for helping
If you are a fanatical planner like me, it is very frustrating when life throws you a curve ball you can not control.
Anyone who knows me personally knows I am always planning well into the future... in fact I already have my first camping trip for the summer pretty much lined up.
I can tell you several weekends ahead if I can do something as I am planning that far ahead. I think this mostly comes from my job where every week is a planned out event from gathering stories, to when I need to write, to when I need to layout the paper, go to press, etc.
Well when I am involved in a major event I have to know I can block a period of time off away from other activities and help make it happen.
That was all in place for the 2nd Annual (Auntie) Linda Johnston Memorial Alzheimer Dinner Saturday. Then a call came from my fiancee Thursday night. She was in chronic pain; something that has been getting worse and worse lately. I have taken her to a specialist in the Twin Cities and an MRI. She was tearful, weak and unable to move very well. I had to choose between my planned event or this family member calling for my help. I felt really bad that I had to leave Uncle Bob and company to do the dinner, but everyone pitched in and on Thursday Bob told me I needed to pack my bag and go.
Thanks to all who helped with the dinner.
Kim was still in pain Sunday when I left... she has started new medication that will hopefully help... but until we get a diagnosis it will be a tough haul.
–Until then,
Ken
