Chop, chop, chop in the neighbourhood
Chop, chop, chop!
That was the sound that echoed through our neighbourhood over the weekend as me and my buddy Jim Armstrong and his wife Susie toiled away at the second half of a big wood pile.
About a month ago we had two dump-truck loads delivered and at that time we managed to get half of it cut up, split and moved to the wood shed.
Anyone who knows Jim knows that he works all over the region for T & K Construction. They are well known for their skills at bridge construction, especially in remote areas.
Well Jim had to go up north for a few weeks to do just that. Susie and I finished most of what was cut and then waited for our version of Paul Bunyan (Jim) to come home.
Friday afternoon and Saturday and Sunday mornings we worked until our bodies could not go any longer and by Sunday at 12:30 p.m. we had 99% of all the wood cut, split and piled.
After we were done Sunday I sat down for lunch... I knew I was going to be stiff but I did not realize that I would barely be able to move.
After a nice hot shower and two Advils... I felt a bit better, but even as I write this more than a day later, I am moving pretty slow.
Thank goodness most of the work is done now and we have a wood supply for next winter.
–Until then,
Ken
