Flick a switch and make things greener

Tomorrow everyone's favourite colour should be green... and no it is not another St. Patty's day celebration.
Tomorrow is Earth Day... so what are you doing to make the planet a bit greener?
In years past school kids have roamed the community cleaning up trash. Others have gathered at Hannam Park in Rainy River to clean it up.
While these are great local projects there are many other things that we can do that are as simple as flicking a switch.
Yes turning off lights in rooms or places that do not need to be on help conserve energy and ultimately reduce the amount of carbon emitted to produce power.
As the heating season is nearly over, people can also opt to turn the furnace way down and add a blanket to their beds on cold nights.
Hanging clothes on the line rather than using an electric or gas dryer also helps.
Walking to the store or to other destinations that are close, rather than taking the car is another way.
Turning the tap off while brushing.
Taking shorter showers.
Turning down the temp on hot water tanks.
There are many simple things we can all do to help out.
So have a look around and see if there is a switch you can flick to help make everyone's favourite colour green, both tomorrow and all year long.

–Until then,
