Time, technology and accessing photos

Well as time goes so does technology.
Last week we tried to do something that we thought would be fun and great for so many of you. We posted nearly all the photos we took at RRHS Prom on our Facebook site.
While the younger generation embraced it instantly, many signing up as friends of the Rainy River Record, for some it was a struggle.
We heard from many middle age to seniors about how they did not have Facebook and wanted to know how they could see all the photos without it.
While most of them have internet access and understood how to get on the Record's website, they were bewildered by the proposition of having to learn Facebook to see the photos.
The reason I chose to go with Facebook to post the photos was simple. The website allows one to batch upload pictures quickly and easily.
The process for posting photos on our website was slow and cumbersome, taking a great deal of work to load each and every photo... something that time often is not available in a week.
However, late last week, we have received word from our tech support people that a new tool is available for us to batch upload photos to our site. I have not had time to experiment or learn it as of yet, but if all goes well you will be able to see many more photos than are in the paper on both our website and Facebook site.
It was amazing how many people called or spoke to me about not being able to see those pictures on Facebook... but I remember only a few years ago they said the same thing about accessing items on our website. As time went by more and more of us learned to do that and I am sure the same will apply to Facebook.
–Until then,
Ken
