Tis the season for good food

Tis the season...
No it is not Christmas... although I am sure that up until a couple of weeks ago people thought maybe it was going to be winter forever.
It is the season of social gatherings on decks and patios. Barbecues sparked and filled with so many goodies like steak, baked potatoes, corn on the cob, etc.
Over the weekend we had company from Alberta in town, looking at property to buy and to retire to in a few years.
Of course once their day was done touring the countryside, we entertained them.
On Saturday we made Tequila Lime Pork Chops on the charcoal BBQ.... they were to die for!
My fiancee and I discovered the Tequila Lime marinade made by Lawry's last summer and instantly knew we had a new favourite.
However, this year the stores that carried it last year did not this year. We were stunned to not be able to get it.
But last week I found a stash of it in International Falls and proceeded to empty their shelf.
Sunday we deep-fried a turkey and had fresh veggie salad from the garden/store.
It was amazing to compare favourite recipes for other summer goodies cooked outside with our relatives from the west.
Everything from beer can chicken recipes to a new one I have never tried called Pulled Chicken!
While we did socialize on other subjects the palatable conversations around food were most prominent for me.
Even after I had eaten I was almost hungry again when Auntie Cindy explained how to make pulled chicken!
Yes it Tis the season for good food!
–Until then,
Ken
