Happy 90th to us!
Happy birthday to us!
With this paper the Rainy River Record has reached another milestone!
We celebrate our 90th birthday and begin our 91st volume.
The Record started in August of 1919 and was founded by current resident, Len Ricci's grandpa.
He was starting the Record in direct competition to the Rainy River Gazette, which had started in the very early 1900s. Ricci eventually bought out the Gazette and for many years the paper was called "The Rainy River Record, with which is incorporated the Rainy River Gazette."
I am not exactly sure when the Gazette's name was dropped from the front page, but the Record has undergone many more changes since then.
From sheet fed presses locally to offset printing at printing plants away from here.
We have seen two electronic revolutions in the production of the printed product and now we compliment our printed version with an on line electronic version.
We are only one of a few businesses that have stood the test of time in Rainy River and we look forward to what the future brings!
–Until then,
Ken
