Do you have a treasure chest in your home?

Is there a "treasure" chest in your house?
Over the weekend I discovered several "treasure" chests when I hauled them out of the basement.
I put my tree up on Saturday and brought three big totes up from the basement. I figured they were just filled with simple decorations but as I carefully removed them item by item, it became clear, they were full of "treasure!"
The first gem of an item was a wooden ornament of a dog with a Christmas stocking cap on it. On the back it says, "Odie and Navy Christmas 1999." Memories of the two dogs came to mind instantly and a big smile to my face!
Another was of two gingerbread men, made for me in 2007 by my step-daughter Veronica. Again another smile!
I also found the Christmas bandanna for my dog that says Santa Paws on it!

I had great fun remembering so many things from Christmases past and as I walked up the street to go and cover the activities involving Santa I wondered how many others had "treasure" chests in their homes. I know Susie Armstrong has many containing her Christmas village pieces and Uncle Bob Johnston also has many containing many animated Christmas characters.
I was talking about it with a lady at the Rec. Centre and she sadly said a fire a few years ago stole all those "treasures" from her. It made me sad and wished that I could give her some of my "treasures" and have them be special to her family.
While they have little monetary value, the "treasures" we have in our Christmas totes are truly worth so much to us at this special time of the year.
–Until then,
