Locals help the Salvation Army help others
Tue, 2010-01-05 11:15
On December 22nd, a tradition of kindness continued in Rainy River when Christmas Hampers for 15 families in Rainy River arrived from the Salvation Army in Fort Frances. For decades the Service Ontario office in Rainy River has acted as the agent for the hamper program, both handing out applications and taking delivery of them. The local Legion has also donated turkeys for each of the hampers for years. Volunteers also give them time and vehicle to travel to Fort to get them and bring them back. From l. to r., Legion President Gerry Marchuk, Service Ontario Officer Sheri Pirkl, Delivery volunteers Troy and Georgia Kreger.
