You are here
Text messengers more than phones!
Cell phones are a lot more than phones now a days!
Over the past week they have become a vital tool for helping people and I am not referring to their phoning features that allow you to call for help from the middle of nowhere. I am talking about text messaging.
If you have watched any television in the past week I am sure you have seen the blurps on the bottom of screens telling you that you can make a $10 dollar donation to the Red Cross by texting Haiti to a number. As of Monday morning about $8 million was raised through this method. that is astounding and probably one of the simplest fund raising programs ever created.
Earlier in the week a woman in Montreal helped save a person under the rubble in Haiti when they texted a post to their facebook site and she saw it.
Over the weekend a friend of ours who is a disc-jockey at a Bemidji radio station sent Kim a text message with the Go Vikings song on it.
Kim used her text messaging to send it to both Vikings fans and those who don't like them alike.
We had many replies via text message to our phones.
It is amazing how one piece of technology can spawn another. Phones at one time were just that. Then came fax machines and eventually cell phones that are basically portable mini-computers with texting, phone and camera capabilities!
I wonder what they will be able to do next??!!!
–Until then,
Ken
